Building located in Milan (MI), Via Broletto n. 16

The project aims at a series of interventions aimed at enhancing the office building complex located nearby Piazza Cordusio.

The project redefines the building built in the sixties with the restoration of the one dating back to the late nineteenth century. Particular attention was paid to the redefinition of the morphological structure and the redevelopment of the open spaces, through the restoration of the historic courtyard accessible from via Porrone, currently occupied by an above ground garage built in the 1960s and which is already being demolished.

The demolished volume is transferred to the flat roof of the building along Via Broletto, raising a new building in continuity in height with the building inside the lot.

The existing courtyard is redeveloped as a garden and made visible and accessible from via Broletto.

The granite and clinker facades built in the 1960s have been replaced with new curtain walls in aluminium and glass, to ensure maximum brightness in the workplace.

In defining the new façades, attention was paid to the reinterpretation of the constrained historical façade, its registers and modularity, in order to propose a specific solution capable of establishing a continuity relationship with the existing one, despite the contemporaneity of the materials and technical solutions used.
